Westfield State plans to resume its traditional, on-campus schedule for fall 2020. Given the ongoing uncertainties related to COVID-19, we believe it is also prudent to develop contingency plans. Updates will be communicated as they become available.×
The Center for Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity, under the leadership of Director, Dr. Lamis Jarvinen, promotes and provides strategic cross-disciplinary support for all students, faculty, and staff to engage in creative scholarship. The goal is to remove barriers and empower students by facilitating and fostering collaborative engagement, professional development, and funding to support student research and creative activity in and out of the classroom.
CURCA supports students at all levels of the curriculum, including First-Year and Common Core Classes, Independent Studies, Major-specific classes, Summer Research programs, and Honors projects. We help to provide opportunities for students to explore their passions, expand their knowledge, and create a competitive portfolio of meaningful skills and experiences.
Our new Center, located in the Ely Library Mezzanine, provides space for multi-disciplinary collaborations, speaking engagements, classroom activities, and professional development workshops. By bringing cross-disciplinary expertise to the center, the CURCA space becomes an inviting and collaborative incubator tank that encourages intellectual and innovative ideas to take form.
