Carol Bailey’s area of teaching and research is postcolonial literatures, with specialization in Caribbean literature. Carol is particularly interested in the intersections of gender, performance/orature, and literary representation. Carol's book A Poetics of Performance: The Oral-Scribal Aesthetic in Anglophone Caribbean Fiction was published in 2014. Her articles and reviews have appeared in Constructing Vernacular Culture in the Trans-Caribbean (2008), The Journal of West Indian Literature, Macomere, Meridians, and Modern Fiction Studies. At Westfield State University, Carol teaches World, Postcolonial, Caribbean and Cross-Cultural Literatures, as well as Women’s Writing.
