The Art Department

The Art Department offers a B.A. Degree in Art with various concentrations and minors.  Internships on and off campus are available to all art majors and minors. All courses are open to the university’s students who meet the proper prerequisites of each class. The high caliber of Professors at Westfield State influence our students for a rich learning environment. Due to our comfortable class size you'll have the advantage of working one on one with art professors in the studio and lecture classes.

The art studios in The Catherine Dower Center for Performing and Visual Arts are open to all art majors and students that are taking art classes for all of their studio-related projects. Students may participate in the graphic design and fine arts clubs, participate in department sponsored trips to regional art studios and galleries throughout the year, participate in the creation of University’s Persona Magazine, and other campus related activities.

Trips to regional museums and galleries are a regular part of the department’s art classes along with presentations and workshops with regional and national visiting artist.
